go lucky

I recently got back in touch with several old friends from high school (thanks, facebook, you suck away my time, but serve a few noble purposes...), and one said that I seemed like I have a happy life. I've been thinking about this word, happy, and wondering about how it works to sum up a life. I responded to him, that, yes, I did have a happy life, but that it wasn't easy. That seems to sum it up.

i feel like joyful is a much better way to explain the good things in life. life is full of its ups and downs, and you can be happy at one point, and sad at another. but i think joy is something that can carry through the happys and the sads. i think it's finding things to rejoice in, especially during the hard times that makes life so much more full.
the word happiness feels so fleeting.
but joy can be found in all things.
and i think that of all the people i have met ever, you are probably one of the most joy-filled people ever. and that is true beauty.

that sums it up very nicely. the thing i constantly (i mean really really constantly) say to myself is that if it was easy it wouldn't be worth doing.
