the contours

{image: vivienne flesher}

Since about fourth grade, I've kept a journal and sketchbook... sometimes separate, sometimes the same blank book, but always a combination of writing and drawing to help me put form to the formless. My mind is sometimes scarily nonlinear, so if I don't have a reflecting surface, I get very lost in the cloud of information-stimulus that composes life. If that doesn't work, I often take refuge in the refections of others in order to make sense of it all. Even putting words to the cloud itself is a relief.

i can relate to that so much... i have a friend who actually calls me non-linear girl : ) and keeping a journal is so grounding for me, too!

YES! I relate to being nonlinear, as well! I am only just now coming to understand the importance of perpetuating a "reflective surface" for this pervasive picture show...

So well said! I always use way to many words to describe a concept or idea, but the way you articulated it, non-linear, brilliant! And such a relief, so true as well. Capturing those multi-dimensional concepts that stick to your brain confusing your functioning thoughts is so freeing and invigorating. Definately a relief.
