smattering of chattering

Round... four (?) of the winter sicks around here. Man.

Above: I've been studying pre-photographic renderings of water-- this one is from ancient China.

Be Thou my vision. A revisit to abiding favorite, Ann Hamilton, leaves me breathless. Especially Corpus (2003).

Can't stop thinking about the moody, evenly-paced film The Assassination of Jesse James. A visual and aural one-of-a-kind.

We went to a wine-tasting hosted by South African wine-makers, Graham Beck, and really enjoyed a slice of the history attached. We also really enjoyed the wine.

I dont know Ann Hamilton but just from your link her stuff has what mine lacks at the moment. A haunting sense of the obsurdity of this place. Something I find in Werner Hertzog films, And in The Assassination of JJ. I enjoy wine too ;)
